My new sponsors !

So now that I’m a solo multisporter, I thought it was time to find some sponsors. I’m proud to announce the following sponsors for 2013 …

First, thanks to JemtBil for fixing me up with a great multisport car – a 2012 Subaru XV. An All-Wheel Drive with an efficient diesel engine and plenty of space for multisport gear. It even has Bluetooth for my phone — nice 🙂

They also provided some car polish that came in handy to increase the speed of my kayak 🙂

Second, thanks to Dynafit for being a fantastic clothing sponsor, providing me with top of the line bike shorts/jerseys/vests, base layers, running shorts/tights, waterproof jackets/pants, lightweight jackets/pants, down jackets, gloves, hats, and other casual clothing.

Dynafit also makes fantastic  lightweight packs and trekking poles, which I will be sporting on the way up Åreskutan in late June …

Third, thanks to Mornington Hotel Bromma for a great “active lifestyle” hotel when I’m visiting Stockholm for business, racing or pleasure.  Fantastic healthy food and the best hotel gym in Stockholm !

Fourth, thanks to Inov-8 shoes for their lightweight and minimalist off-road trail shoes. I discovered these a few years ago, but wasn’t allowed to race in them the last two years … Inov8’s approach is simple: less is more. The less support and padding you have, the more you feel the trail under your feet and the better you can attack the terrain.  I love the fact that they not only sell shoes, but also the knowledge on how to be a better runner. More on that in the future on this blog …

X Talon 190 is my favorite (the new orange version is coming out this August and will have a strengthened fabric to ensure longer life).

Fifth, Squeezy will be providing my nutritional racing needs, including bars, gels, and sportdrink.

One of my favorites is tomato gel — a nice salty alternative to sweet gels!

Their fruit gum is also pretty tasty …

Sixth, I welcome funbeat.se as a partner that has long supported me and my “nerd-like” need for tracking my training data. Their social training website will help promote and support my multisport presentations in 2013, which will cover everything from training methods to nutrition to multisport skills. Stay tuned for updates on their website and mine …

Seventh, I welcome X-Kross sunglasses by Sziols. I have a couple of black, white, and red shades to match the good-looking Dynafit clothes. The nice thing about the “Running” lenses is that they breath (!) — even for a guy like me who sweats like crazy, I made it through the whole Falun Trail Run and they never fogged up !

Thanks also to two local sponsors in Östersund. First, Velo Rapide bike shop.  Anders Carlsson has been in the bike industry for 30 years and was the first to bring a front suspension shock from California to Sweden in the early 1980s. He also helped fit me to my time trial bike like a pro !

Finally, thanks to Sven-Åke Nordenmark who not only makes the best mountain bike map holders in the world (seriously, people email him from around the globe to get one shipped from Östersund), but he’s also a great photographer (see previous blog…) and good at fixing my gear when it breaks. Thanks Sven-Åke !

I will be sporting these new colors at the Norderön race this weekend — see ya there !

In other news, my road cycling race didn’t go so well today. I had a crash, but luckily no broken bones. Instead, I left some skin on the road and took home some gravel.  Nothing more pleasurable then going into the shower with a toothbrush to clean out road cycling wounds. I reckon road cyclists are way tougher than multisporters (who can crash in a nice soft and clean forest instead 🙂

One thing about having a GPS watch is that you can’t lie.  When I went to see the data, it turned out I wasn’t too far off when I said “I was going 50 kph when I crashed.” This 40 km race ended after only 16 km.  Time to relax and heal up …

Oh yeah and it’s good to have a bike shop sponsor since my helmet exploded on impact (saving my skull) I’ll need a new one for Saturday’s race … I’ll see ya tmw Anders …
